The Web can be very confusing. Terms like domain names, IP addresses and the like, are bantered around very often. But what do these terms really mean?
Domain names are the methods of identifying one or more IP addresses. Take the domain name of mywebsearchinfo.com. This is the domain name that tags many pages including the IP addresses, http://www.mywebsearchinfo.com/mywebsearch-top-level-domains/ and also includes other pages in this website. Domain names always have suffixes which describe the top level domain (TLD)of which the site is connected to.
These include:
• .gov for government agency
• .edu for educational institutions
• .org for non-profit organizations
There are many more such suffixes, such as.bus, etc.
See MyWebSearch for more infomation.
